Meet Nitotem the Lynx, the official mascot for the Wood Buffalo 2023 Arctic Winter Games. Nitotem was born just north of Fort Chipewyan in the Wood Buffalo National Park. The other animals in the boreal forest gave him his name, which means “my friend” in the Cree language.

Nitotem was brought to life and illustrated by Sadie Antoine of Fort McMurray. Her design was the winning submission chosen in the mascot design contest. Nitotem’s unveiling was paired with the launch of the Mascot Program. The program, which promotes the Games while supporting education, culture, and community engagement initiatives, would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsor A.P.E. Maintenance Ltd.

As part of the program and as an ambassador, Nitotem can now be found going across the region sharing his excitement for the Games.

If you want Nitotem to appear at your event, please fill out the mascot request form below. Nitotem is very busy visiting ALL his friends, so to ensure there is room in his schedule, please make your submission a minimum of two weeks out from your event.
